2. Snub: First Man Gets Mostly Shut Out

First Man hasn't had a great awards season, quickly losing steam after the inane flag 'controversy' and never quite recovering. Still, it was in with a chance of some major nominations, but has ultimately come away with just Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Visual Effects, and Production Design.

It was clear that Ryan Gosling wasn't going to be in the Best Actor race, but Claire Foy was well in contention for a Supporting Actress nod, and it had an outside chance of making it into the Best Picture race (though that would've depended on it going to 9-10 nominees).

More shockingly, though, is that it hasn't been nominated for Editing, Cinematography, or Original Score. As with La La Land, the work of Tom Cross, Linus Sandgren, and Justin Hurtwitz respectively is absolutely impeccable, and deserving of far more than what it's been given during awards season, but clearly the film just didn't resonate with voters.
