Oscars 2020: 15 Insanely Early Predictions For Next Year's Academy Awards

11. Best Cinematography: Hoyte Van Hoytema - Ad Astra

Other Nominees: Roger Deakins (The Goldfinch), Bruno Delbonnel (The Woman In The Window), Rodrigo Prieto (The Irishman), Robert Richardson (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood)

This is shaping up to be a ridiculously stacked category - the predictions here don't include Us, Little Woman, or Ford v Ferrari, all of which should look great and wouldn't be a surprise to see nominated - but these seem to fit best with what and who the Academy will recognise. All five named above are regular contenders in this category (they have a combined 32 nominations), and are back with big films this year.

Of those, Hoyte van Hoytema is one of the lesser-known names of the bunch, but has already done some incredible work on the likes of Let The Right One In, Dunkirk, and Interstellar. He should be a perfect fit for Ad Astra, which director James Gray is looking to make the most realistic depiction of space on the big screen ever. If van Hoytema can pull that vision off, he'll be walking away with the gold.
