The short film categories are by far the toughest to pick if you're out of the loop, but with short-form projects becoming increasingly available on streaming services in recent years, it's a little easier to paint a picture moving forward.

Best Animated Short Film should net nods for Netflix's If Anything Happens I Love You and Disney's Burrow and Out. The rest are up in the air.

For Best Documentary Short, Netflix leads the pack with A Love Song for Tatasha and What Would Sophia Loren Do?, while the shattering Abortion Helpline, This Is Lisa also feels like a dead-cert.

In Best Live-Action Short, Pedro Almodovar's The Human Voice is 100% getting in, while our other four selections represent the most acclaimed and buzzed-about of the field, but it's entirely possible some are switched out next week.
