Oscars 2021: Ranking The Nominated Performances From Worst To Best
6. Daniel Kaluuya - Judas And The Black Messiah
Daniel Kaluuya received his second Oscar nomination for playing Black Panther party leader Fred Hampton and he feels like the safest lock for a win out of all the categories for his supporting performance in Judas and the Black Messiah.
It can be hard to choose between the two nominated Judas co-stars as to who is better but Kaluuya's work is some of the most raw and powerful of the whole year. When the film gets dark and difficult, it is Kaluuya that keeps those beats as impactful as they can be. The emotion felt from the performance will resonate with many and Kaluuya embodies the civil rights icon.
He has great chemistry with co-stars LaKeith Stanfield and Dominique Fishback and can carry the film on his electrifying chemistry alone. With an ending that kicks you in the teeth, the film works only as well as it does thanks to Kaluuya who will soon be an Academy Award winning actor thanks to his work here.
