Oscars 2022: 10 Possible Contenders For Next Year's Ceremony
2. CODA
The most awarded and celebrated film at Sundance this year was CODA which stands for Child Of Deaf Adults. CODA will benefit from the praise and appreciation that Sound of Metal received this year as the discussion around the deaf community is very much on the Academy's mind.
Starring Marlee Matlin, who won an Oscar for Best Actress in 1987 for Children of a Lesser God, CODA is a great examination of the pressures and difficulties a young person goes through when they also have their deaf parents to consider. Matlin also made a tactical appearance at this year's ceremony handing out an award, almost reminding voters to pay attention to her and keep an eye out for her over the next year.
CODA is a fantastic look at deafness and a family within that community and should be considered the critical favourite at this early stage. Its early accolades are probably going to represent a large swell of support for the film going forward.
