Oscars 2022: All 20 Actors Who Could Get Their First Oscar Nomination

You probably don't know the name Cooper Hoffman yet, but you're certainly about to. Cooper is the teenage son of the late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman, and will make his screen debut in Paul Thomas Anderson's upcoming 1970s drama Licorice Pizza.

Anderson's film hasn't yet been publicly screened, and though he's got a hit-and-miss history with the Academy, his films have reliably resulted in nominations for his actors - his last four films alone have seen six actors nominated.

Hoffman being the son of one of the greatest actors of all time is no guarantee he will follow suit of course, but he's got about as great a shot as any "unknown" actor ever has, especially with a director of Anderson's peerless caliber guiding him.

He's certainly a fringe contender for now until the film is actually shown, but he could easily play the Best Actor spoiler if the film is strong enough.
