Oscars 2022: Every Acting Nominee Ranked

3. Kristen Stewart - Spencer

For a while, it looked like Kristen Stewart would go from Oscar frontrunner to not even getting nominated. Beaten to the Golden Globe by Nicole Kidman and not even nominated for a BAFTA, her chances of winning have been massively minimised.

But don't count her out just yet: To call Stewart's work in Spencer a transformative performance would be an understatement, as she elegantly brings Princess Diana to life with an impressive imitation that never feels forced or put-on.

Rather, her portrayal of Diana both mimics the late Princess, and shifts slightly in heightened spells of melodrama and fancy that perfectly compliments Pablo Larraín's surreal vision of her struggles.

It's a truly astounding piece of work, and one that not only proves Stewart to be far passed the days of Twilight, but a performance that promises this chapter of her career is only just beginning.
