Unless you pay supreme attention to the Oscars, you'd be forgiven for assuming that Kenneth Branagh already had an Oscar or two to his name, whether for writing, directing, producing, or acting.

Branagh holds the record for being nominated in the most separate categories at seven, and yet hadn't ever been able to take one of his nods all the way, until this year that is.

While there's a strong argument to be made that the Best Original Screenplay Oscar should've gone to The Worst Person in the World, it was nevertheless a thrill to see the prodigiously talented artist finally take home a gold statue.

Some 32 years after his first nomination, the man everyone just assumed had a couple of Oscars finally got one.
