Oscars 2024: 20 Insanely Early Predictions
4. Best Director: Martin Scorsese (Killers Of The Flower Moon)
Best Director is a tricky category to call this early in the year - after all, it was just a few months ago that most Oscar pundits had Steven Spielberg pegged as a lock to win for The Fabelmans.
But it's damn-near guaranteed that Martin Scorsese will at least receive a nomination for Killers of the Flower Moon, and if the film lives up to the hype - Paramount and Apple are apparently very excited about what they've seen so far - he could receive his second career win.
Scorsese was literally decades overdue when he won Best Director for The Departed in 2007, and given that none of his movies since 2011's Hugo have won any Oscars, it feels like he's become overdue yet again.
Nobody's going to complain about arguably our greatest living filmmaker winning a second Best Director Oscar, especially if his upcoming epic is as great as it looks.
