Pacific Rim 3: 10 Things We Want To See
2. Raleigh Becket Is Back
By far the most questionable omission from Uprising was the original movie's protagonist Raleigh Becket (Charlie Hunnam), who is not only absent from the sequel, but he's not even given a cursory namedrop.
Scheduling conflicts ultimately kept Hunnam from appearing in the film, but as he hasn't been killed off-screen or otherwise written-out, hopefully the filmmakers will be able to lure him back for number three.
Perhaps Raleigh has been M.I.A. since the events of the first film, and he emerges out of the woodwork, sporting a beard and teaming with Jake to help repel the ultimate Kaiju assault. It'd certainly help rejuvenate interest in a third film after Uprising was, well, not so great.
How Likely Is It?: DeKnight has already stated he wants it to happen, saying of Uprising, "We wanted to leave it open for the third instalment of the movie in case we could get Charlie Hunnam back." It's all down to Hunnam, who could either bail after seeing the reception to Uprising, or come aboard for an easy paycheck.
It's more likely than not, but nothing's set in stone. 6/10
