Pacific Rim 3: 10 Things We Want To See

4. No More Sob Story Flashbacks

Pacific Rim Raleigh Mako
Universal

One of the most memorable sequences from the first film was the flashback depicting young Mako being orphaned in the Kaiju attack on Tokyo, and in Uprising there's a similar sequence where we witness the demise of Amara's (Cailee Spaeny) parents during a state-side incident.

Effective though both of these moments were, it's probably time to cool it on the emotional flashbacks, because once was awesome, twice felt a little lazy, and thrice would be straight-up self-plagiarism. Regardless of which new characters might get introduced in a prospective third film, let's not have them be orphans with devastating backstories, alright?

How Likely Is It?: It'd be insanely cheeky to try and pull this again, so it actually seems pretty probable there won't be any more flashbacks featuring the deaths of characters' loved ones. 8/10
