Pacific Rim: Uprising - Ranking Every Major Character From Worst To Best

2. Jake Pentecost

John Boyega does fine work as Stacker Pentecost's son Jake, an unexpectedly cocky toolbag of a character who nevertheless boasts just enough charm that you don't end up outright disliking him.

Jake's the character who feels most in-touch with the film's goofier sensibilities, and he has by far the most personality and charisma of anyone who appears throughout Uprising.

He's begrudgingly likeable and an able soldier. So much more could've been done with him - namely his relationship with Mako, the death of his father and his strained friendship with Nate - but as far as blockbuster protagonists go, he's basically solid enough.
