Pacific Rim: Uprising Review - 3 Ups & 7 Downs

2. It's Surprisingly Boring

Perhaps the worst thing that can be said about the movie is that it's frequently pretty dull. This is a film that's supposedly focused on big robots and monsters punching each other, and yet, thanks to an excess of bloated dialogues and an oppressively grey colour scheme, it often feels like a chore to get through.

To think that the sequel to a film as exciting as Pacific Rim could be just intermittently interesting at best is probably its biggest failure. There are exciting moments, but Uprising sadly feels much closer to Michael Bay's Transformers movies than the previous film, with its monotonous action, surplus of embarrassing writing and dodgy pacing. Oof.
