2. Joey Gazelle - Running Scared
Running Scared is a one of a kind Paul Walker starring role; one that came during the heights of his success. The film placed Paul Walker in a gratuitously violent action thriller setting where he was tasked with locating a child that was in possession of a gun. The catch is that Paul Walker's character- Joey Gazelle- was initially tasked by his crime boss to dispose of the weapon due to its traceable history. Due to the darker nature of the plot, Running Scared also showcases a more ferocious and vicious Paul Walker. It seriously is a disturbingly twisted movie that is focused more on displaying vile aspects of humanity, rather than being a one-two punch of Mafia shenanigans and shootouts. Despite that, the movie definitely made a case that Paul Walker could lead action films by himself. It's the style of film that works best for Paul and something I wish he had tackled more. Running Scared is a hidden gem of a film for me and its a shame it still goes by somewhat unnoticed and simply concrete evidence that he had the chops to be an action star phenomenon.
