Peacemaker: 10 Things You Need To Know About The Suicide Squad TV Series

4. Becoming Part Of Task Force X

Peacemaker John Cena
DC Comics

Something you're probably particularly intrigued by is how Peacemaker ended up becoming part of Task Force X. Well, that didn't technically happen in the comic books. Instead, he was part of spy organisation Checkmate, and played a big role in the "Janus Directive" crossover event.

Ultimately, it was revealed that his (and everyone else's) strings were being pulled by Amanda Waller, though even his teammates - a special-forces unit hunting down terrorist - deemed his actions too extreme. Christopher Smith went out like something of a hero, though, after crashing his helicopter to destroy tanks controlled by the supervillain Eclipso.

He had only been around for five years by that point, and that gives Gunn a lot of creative freedom with how he handles the character on screen. There's a chance he'll borrow that death scene (it was pretty cool), with Peacemaker believed dead until he resurfaces in this planned TV series.

Of course, comic books being what they are, his counterpart there returned as, uh, well, ghost!
