DC TV shows like The Flash and Batwoman run for upwards of twenty episodes, but there's a big difference between cable television and network TV. With Peacemaker a big budget project that's coming to HBO Max, it falls into the former category, hence why it will be eight episodes in total.

As Gunn puts it, "Peacemaker is an opportunity to delve into current world issues through the lens of this superhero/supervillain/and world’s biggest douchebag. I’m excited to expand The Suicide Squad and bring this character from the DC film universe to the full breadth of a series."

It sounds like it will tackle some hard-hitting issues then, and HBO Max is the right destination for that.

That's where all the top tier DC TV shows now call home, and also the destination for the four-part Justice League: The Snyder Cut. There's currently no word on where Peacemaker will find a home internationally, but it's likely to be another streaming service due to HBO Max being solely for subscribers in the U.S. for the foreseeable future.
