2. The Finale Is Disappointingly Bland

There are a lot of great action beats in this movie, but the final showdown between Jack and Javier Bardem's Captain Salazar is pretty disappointing. In an attempt to one-up what came before, directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg throw pretty much everything they can at the screen, but the result is largely a dull, often barely comprehensible CGI mish-mash that's nowhere near as involving as some of the simpler, earlier action sequences.

Yes, the scale and spectacle speak for themselves, but five films deep into a series, that's not really enough. There's a "been there, done that" feel to the majority of the final battle, even as it tries to introduce more and more elements to freshen things up. These kinds of movies need to end strong, but unfortunately, it does basically the opposite.
