Pixar: Ranking Every Upcoming Film By Anticipation

5. Coco

The Good Dinosaur
Pixar

At this year's D23, the company finally revealed a little more information on their Dia de los Muertos-themed film, along with a title: Coco. Set for release in 2017, the film marks Pixar vet Lee Unkrich's next directorial turn at the company since 2010's Toy Story 3.

If you skip to the 2:27 mark in the above highlight video of Pixar's D23 panel, you'll be treated to a very brief bit of insight on the film, which will undoubtedly embrace the striking imagery associated with the Mexican holiday and stand out from anything the company has done yet.

As the film itself gets closer, we'll learn more about it, but the idea of Pixar exploring the culture, heritage and the idea of life and death that surrounds the holiday is more than intriguing. Amidst a slate of sequels, Coco will be a breath of fresh air, giving Pixar the chance to do what they do best in exploring an original story from the ground up.

Release Date: November 22nd, 2017.
