Pixar: Ranking Their Films From Best To Worst

1. Up

Up Up brought Pixar to an entirely new level. The montage in the opening minutes is simply one of cinema's finest scenes as it has the ability to make you laugh and cry with equal power. The montage shows Carl and Ellie's life together, from their meeting as children, to their first house, to their jobs as a balloon seller and zookeeper respectively, to their inability to have children, and finally, to Ellie's heart-breaking death that didn't leave a dry eye in the house. The sombre opening is the perfect example of Pixar respecting its audience and refusing to condescend its apparent primary fanbase of film fans not yet in their teens. Up is a grand adventure, as Carl wishes to realise his dream of reaching Paradise Falls, only he accidentally picks up a passenger in the loveable Russell, and the two form a tight bond as Carl literally drags his house to Paradise Falls for his late wife. Up is unbelievably touching, and is so genuine and touching and it never loses its sense of humour, despite the fact it tackles some hard stuff thematically. Up is like the finest poem, it's beautiful, sweet and stays with you long after its over. It became the second ever animated film to be nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, and it should have won. Do you agree with our ranking?
