Predator Skulls: 10 Mistakes It Needs To Avoid

8. Don't Bring Back the Predator Dogs

The Predator
20th Century Fox

Throughout The Predator, Shane Black struggled to settle on the right tone for the picture, attempting to inject some of the post modern flare that worked so well in his other projects like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys, but failing to hit the mark.

This was no more evident than his decision to create a Predator hound, a dog-like species that resembled a hunting dog. Worst of all, Black turned one of the creatures into a lovable sidekick after a head injury renders it docile. This jarring choice further undercut the film's attempt to build suspense, being completely at odds with the kind the horror sci-fi action tone of the original.

Understandably, Black wanted to add something new into the proceedings, and the Predator possessing a hunter dog seems like a reasonable conceit; however, Black completely whiffed on the execution and bringing the creatures back would only remind fans of how badly the whole concept panned out in the last instalment.
