Predicting 20 Highest Grossing Movies Of 2019

19. Dumbo ($520 Million)

Dumbo 2018
Disney

Release Date: March 29

Tim Burton's live-action Dumbo remake is certainly one of the year's most shrewdly-marketed movies to date, focused squarely on its adorable titular CGI elephant, and is sure to be an easy proposition to family audiences.

But it's also worth noting that Dumbo isn't nearly as popular or iconic as most of the Disney classics already remade in live-action form, and so there's virtually no chance it reaches the heights of, say, The Jungle Book ($966 million) or Beauty and the Beast ($1.264 billion).

Beauty and the Beast proved that mixed reviews don't matter when classic IP are concerned, so the likely-middling response to Dumbo won't harm it much, even if it'll probably end up settling just below Cinderella's $543.5 million worldwide take.

Some will try to play this as a miss for Disney, but it's still a solid success even if the budget soars as high as $200 million.
