The Minions movies are basically critic-proof along with the wider Despicable Me franchise, the first film scoring a middling 55% while 2022's sequel Minions: The Rise of Gru landed an improved 69%, both making an absolute mint at the box office.
And so too will Minions 3 surely be an unstoppable box office behemoth, even though critical response will probably be fairly indifferent.
2024's Despicable Me 4 received a mediocre 55% on the Tomatometer, indicating that critics are probably growing a little tired of the franchise's shtick and general lack of ambition.
Will Minions 3 almost certainly be a harmless and mercifully brief romp with a few funny gags? Sure, but is anyone expecting it to be in any way fresh or illuminating? Absolutely not.
Expect this to be the worst-reviewed entry in the series, even if that won't matter at all to the great many who love the franchise.
