Predicting Box-Office Of Every Disney 2019 Movie

3. Artemis Fowl - $250m

Artemis Fowl
Disney

Release Date: August 9

While the vast majority of Disney's 2019 offerings are sequels, remakes, or part of wider franchises, this represents their big to start a new family-friendly franchise, based upon the book series by Eoin Colfer.

The books did prove popular when released - the first one came out back in 2001 - but they've never broken through into the pop-culture mainstream in the way a Harry Potter or The Hunger Games did, so it doesn't look like this movie will be a massive hit. Kenneth Branagh is a reliable director, but there's not much of a starry cast to go on either.

Quite how well it does will depend on reviews - negative ones could tank it - but if it's well-received then it should at least perform better than similar Disney offerings like A Wrinkle in Time and Nutcracker and the Four Realms.
