Predicting Every Upcoming Marvel Movie's Box-Office Results

7. Black Panther

Spider Man Homecoming Money
Marvel Studios

Worldwide Gross: $650 million

Black Panther proved a huge hit with audiences after Captain America: Civil War debuted earlier this year, and that bodes extremely well for his long in development solo adventure. Another huge plus for the movie is the fact that it launches in mid-February, a traditionally quiet period at the box-office that will allow a relatively unpopular character like this one the breathing room he needs.

Deadpool sufficiently personified that notion in February of this year, going on to outperform every single X-Men movie to date. Black Panther's only major competition around its release will be Fifty Shades Freed one weekend before, but they're targeting completely different audiences and are unlikely to cannibalize each others profits.

The positive response to the character thus far, the smart release date and the Marvel marketing machine should easily see Black Panther over $600 million and past Doctor Strange, who doesn't have the advantage of a previous appearance in a team-up movie to help him along.

All this is assuming, of course, that the movie isn't terrible - but the talent that's currently attached, from director Ryan Coogler to stars Michael B. Jordan and Forest Whitaker, makes that an unlikely scenario.
