There's been much hand-wringing about the supposedly difficult production of the upcoming Bond film No Time to Die, though the recently released first trailer suggested little such trouble - even if we've all been fooled before.

With this being Daniel Craig's final outing as 007, most fans are wondering how director Cary Fukunaga will bring his tenure to a close, especially amid rumours that original director Danny Boyle quit the movie because he wasn't allowed to kill Bond off.

As a result it's probably safe to say that No Time to Die won't end with James Bond's demise, and while it's entirely possible the film won't give Bond a concrete send-off at all, the fact that Craig's departure has been telegraphed so much makes it fitting that his arc would have a fixed end-point.

The likelihood, then, is that we'll actually see Craig's version of the character be retired at the end of the movie, whether that's settling down with Madeleine (Léa Seydoux) or forging ahead on his own.

If the filmmakers are smart - and with Fleabag's Phoebe Waller-Bridge co-writing, they definitely are - they'll keep tenacious new 00 agent Nomi (Lashana Lynch) alive and position her as the sidekick to whoever takes over the Bond mantle in the future.

If Judi Dench can cross the Bond actor threshold, why not Lynch?
