Predicting Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4

6. Guardians Of The Galaxy 3

Predicted Release Date: 2nd July, 2020 Earlier this year critics were sceptical about Guardians Of The Galaxy's chances with a mainstream audience. Now it's the biggest superhero movie of 2014 and we predict at the start of the 2020s it'll be dominating the Fourth of July weekend. In terms of bankability, a third film for Star Lord and co. is a safe bet, with audiences having really connected with the likes of Groot and Rocket. We don't know how many films the central cast are locked in for, but Chris Pratt has said Marvel "pretty much own me for as long as they want", implying there's ample opportunity for them to have their own adventures as well as being go-to Avengers without using up the contract. The 2020 release date fits in with what seems like Marvel's ongoing game-plan - with Guardians 2 in 2017 and Infinity Wars in 2018 and 2019 it seems like they're wanting a space movie each year - and acts as a nice change of pace from the Earth-bound movies of Phase 4 thus far. Expect it to look at the fallout from Infinity War, possibly (assuming Adam Warlock's introduction at some point) touching on the events of Infinity Crusade, showing a massive event with a funny tone.
