Predicting Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4

3. Planet Hulk

Predicted Release Date: 1st July, 2021 The biggest character in the MCU who's been totally overlooked in terms of getting his own movie is Hulk. After The Incredible Hulk, which delivered everything audiences complained wasn't in the Ang Lee version, became the lowest grossing Marvel movie, the assumption seems to be Bruce Banner's anger issues can't carry their own adventure, with the character turned into an Avengers-only treat. Mark Ruffalo, like Downey Jr., Hemsworth and Evans, has signed a six-picture deal. However, not yet having his own movie, Hulk has the potential to run a lot longer through the MCU; assuming his Iron Man 3 cameo doesn't count (Chris Evan's appearance in Thor: The Dark World doesn't), then there's two films on top of the four Avengers for him to star in. One will probably be Avengers 5, but there's no reason for the other to not be his own adventure. But why now? Because in terms of story it's the best moment to bring one of the most awesome Hulk stories to life. Planet Hulk would easily fit in between our proposed events of the two parts of Avengers 4 (more on that later) and in terms of a stand-alone story it'd be ideal; essentially Hulk is banished to space and crash-lands on an alien world which he subsequently becomes ruler of. No need to explain why the Avengers can't help this time. Given that he's flown off into the sunset - with questions inevitably related to that Age Of Ultron pay-off - if Marvel can sort out the potentially tricky rights issue for a stand-alone, they should absolutely press ahead with it.
