23. Doctor Strange (2017)

We already know that Doctor Strange is an almost nailed on certainty to appear in Phase 3 (and probably in the unnamed slot that has already been announced) thanks to the Easter Egg in Captain America: The Winter Soldier mentioning his name, and the fact that he was deemed a future threat by HYDRA. With the Infinity Gems storyline shaping Phase 3 as the over-riding storyline, a Doctor Strange stand-alone would allow us to see the supernatural elements of what might happen if Thanos took control of all six artefacts. The best way to introduce Strange would be to focus on the rise of Mephisto, the infamous Faustian demon, who could be conjured by long-running Strange antagonist Baron Mordo. Doctor Strange is an entirely different prospect to every other property we have seen to date, and with more supernatural elements coming into the universe - which is likely given how well those elements (albeit grounded in science) worked for the Thor universe - we need a poster boy for magic, even if that element might alienate the main Marvel audience. The Cameo: Ghost Rider. He's not exactly strong enough to get his own film, and will need the assistance of another Marvel star, much as Hulk did in The Avengers, and the appearance of Mephisto would make sense.
