2. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Estimated Box Office Gross: $1.4 billion In the wake of Star Wars: The Force Awakens' release, Star Wars fever will hit an all-time high. Across 2016, it'll be a constant point of conversation. Audiences will literally be dying for another Star Wars injection as 2016 approaches its end, too, and so it will be Rogue One: A Star Wars Story that will give people their fix. Set between Episodes III and IV, this spin-off movie has an inherently delicious premise - one that will keep fanboys and casual fans happy during the wait for Star Wars: Episode VII. Star Wars means money, of course, so - despite the fact that it's not a linear episode - it's naturally going to be one of the biggest films of the year. Even those diehard fans who can't quite comprehend this whole spin-off movie thing will ultimately be drawn into theatres, because who's going to avoid a brand new Star Wars movie, spin-off or not? There's a legitimate chance that this movie could be the highest-grossing picture of 2016 (just as there's a huge chance that Star Wars: The Force Awakens could wind up being the highest-grossing movie of 2015 - or ever). That said, one flick might have the edge...
