Predicting The Next 10 Comic Book Movies From Worst To Best
6. Doctor Strange (November 4, 2016)
What We Know: After tackling other dimensions, alien invasions and space operas, Doctor Strange will see the MCU expand further and open up the world of magic. The movie was first announced back in 2010, and has long been a priority project for Kevin Feige.
The major story was the casting of the Sorcerer Supreme himself, with Marvel landing a major coup in securing Benedict Cumberbatch, one of the most in-demand actors in the business. With shooting set to begin later this month, it's surely only a matter of time before we get our first look at the actor in costume.
The Prediction: Worryingly, Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer wrote the initial draft of the script, the duo responsible for terrible movies Sahara, A Sound of Thunder and the Conan remake, with a rewrite by Jon Spaihts. Scott Derrickson was hired to direct, fitting with Marvel's criteria of choosing unheralded and inexpensive directors that can fit the studio's remit.
However, with a great actor in the lead role and an entirely new avenue of the MCU to explore, Doctor Strange definitely has the potential to be unlike anything else the studio has ever released, both visually and story-wise.
Predicted Rating: 7/10
