Predicting The Post-Credits Scenes Of Every Major 2018 Comic-Book Movie

Assuming they all have one, anyway...

Thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe increasing their popularity, post-credits scenes have almost become a staple of the superhero genre.

After that first Iron Man stinger sent shockwaves through pop-culture enthusiasts back in 2008, waiting around until the credits have finished isn't just something people do occasionally, with the faintest of hopes of actually seeing more footage - it's something people do every single time a comic-book movie ends.

You could even argue that it's an obligation to do so. Most superhero movies now feel like episodes in a blockbuster TV show, so soaking up every morsel of information and every subtle reference is almost a mandatory requirement. Who wants to miss out on that one thing everyone else is talking about?

Fortunately, if you enjoy sitting down and making fun of thousands of names as they scroll by, 2018 should at least ensure you're adequately rewarded for your time.

There are no less than eight major comic-book movies set for release next year, and with the superhero craze showing no signs of slowing, there's plenty of post-credits (or mid-credits) teasing to be done.

8. Thanos Assembles The Infinity Gauntlet - Black Panther

The Movie: Picking up soon after Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther will follow the title character as he returns home to Wakanda to assume the mantle of king.

Everything we know about the film so far seems to indicate that it won't contain any major links to the wider MCU (besides a few returning characters), but since it comes out right before Avengers: Infinity War, we can expect this post-credits scene to set up that film in some way.

The Post-Credits Scene: We haven't seen Thanos - in person - since the end of Avengers: Age Of Ultron.

Since the majority of people who'll be watching Avengers: Infinity War won't be fully up-to-date with everything going on in the MCU, this scene should remind general audiences who Thanos is, what he's up to, and that he's coming in the next movie.

There are tons of possibilities here, but our guess is that Thanos has managed to acquire an Infinity Stone or two - maybe the Aether, which has been missing for a while, or the Soul Stone, which we haven't seen yet - and is shown slotting it into the Infinity Gauntlet. This could either be an original scene, or a scene taken from Infinity War directly.

There isn't much setup needed to link Black Panther with Infinity War - the movie will find him defending Wakanda, and since we assume he'll be in Wakanda at the end of his own movie anyway, no connective tissue is needed - so using this scene to fill in some Thanos-related blanks makes sense.
