Predicted Critical Consensus: "Jason Momoa and James Wan make for a fine team, but Aquaman's abundance of blurry digital action and underwhelming drama undercuts its potential as a sleeper hit."

Though it's easy to be optimistic about Aquaman considering director James Wan and an ensemble including Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard and...Dolph Lundgren, this one's likely to come down to the script above all else, and with Gangster Squad's Will Beall penning the film, it might be best to keep those expectations somewhere in the middle.

Nobody would be shocked if the Aquaman movie wasn't great, because after all, nailing a character this potentially goofy was never going to be easy, but at the same time, Wan is an extremely talented blockbuster director, and the evolving tone of the DCEU at least suggests it won't be taking itself too seriously.
