5. Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Jamie Foxx's Committed Performances

If this could've clearly been nothing more than a simple paycheck role for stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Jamie Foxx, the lasting impression from their performances is that they were actually lured in by the compelling material.

Gordon-Levitt follows up his searing performance in the recent 7500 with an entertainingly pulpy turn as cop Frank - a good man albeit one acting on the fringes of morality as he too ingests Power to give himself a leg-up in the field.

Foxx, meanwhile, is his usual infectiously entertaining self in a part that's no major stretch for the actor, but nevertheless confirms just how eminently watchable he truly is.

Though they spend the majority of the movie apart, each anchors the film with their sure charisma, and clearly relishes trading chatter with young lead Dominique Fishback - but more on her later.
