16: Chimps?
If we are created from the Engineers, where does the other DNA on Earth come from? Science can trace the evolution of the human quite clearly so how do the Engineers fit into that? From what I gathered, the Engineer at the beginning of the film falls into the water and his DNA creates humans, that is why the DNA is an identical match. But what about chimps whose DNA is 98% similar? I don't think the writers cared about any of this when they were writing it and that is why the film fails. Not everyone watching this film is a moron. It also raises the question that if the Engineer made the ultimate sacrifice to start life on Earth, then why did they suddenly decide to wipe it out? No explanation is given for this. The Engineer they find on the planet wakes up angry and we don't know why. Is it something David said to piss him off when he was talking to him? This was another moment I was totally baffled in this film, what is the point in writing an antagonist and then not give him good motivation that we can understand and go with? This is basic stuff which the writers forgot or didn't care about. And why would the engineers leave maps on Earth that leads to a weapon research facility?
