2. Marley
A feature length doc on the life and times of Bob Marley by filmmakers Kevin MacDonald (The Last King Of Scotland) and Nolan regular Wally Pfister has, as youd expect; gorgeous cinematography, great in depth narration and a lot of heart, all handled with such care. It was a poignant screening for me, watching the story of the legendary reggae singer on the eve of his death-day, as it gave me a thorough insight into the revolutionists aspirational legacy as well as his many flaws. It was mostly new information for me; I didnt realise how sinful and flawed the man was, yet you cant help but love his laid back style and animosity for injustice. We fly through the mans history whilst cutting to interviews with industry types, family & friends. It may be a tad too long yet it paints the perfect picture of a rocknroll star; a country on the verge of change and a revolutionary music scene. Its the best Marley doc youre likely to see and with a Jimi Hendrix bio in the works, Im now eagerly awaiting a fresh film adaptation too. Please? Cheers.
