Prometheus & 5 Best Films Of 2012 So Far

2. Marley

A feature length doc on the life and times of Bob Marley by filmmaker€™s Kevin MacDonald (The Last King Of Scotland) and Nolan regular Wally Pfister has, as you€™d expect; gorgeous cinematography, great in depth narration and a lot of heart, all handled with such care. It was a poignant screening for me, watching the story of the legendary reggae singer on the eve of his death-day, as it gave me a thorough insight into the revolutionists aspirational legacy as well as his many flaws. It was mostly new information for me; I didn€™t realise how sinful and flawed the man was, yet you can€™t help but love his laid back style and animosity for injustice. We fly through the man€™s history whilst cutting to interviews with industry types, family & friends. It may be a tad too long yet it paints the perfect picture of a rock€™n€™roll star; a country on the verge of change and a revolutionary music scene. It€™s the best Marley doc you€™re likely to see and with a Jimi Hendrix bio in the works, I€™m now eagerly awaiting a fresh film adaptation too. Please? Cheers.
