Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight: 10 Things You Need To Know

8. ...And Bringing On Board Some New Talent

The director has managed to earn the loyalty and respect of a bunch of talented Hollywood heavy-hitters, which is a skill unto itself. One of Tarantino's other, numerous talents, however, is that he has an eye for talent: both new, upcoming actors, as well as picking out faded stars who deserve another shot of glory. He was single-handedly responsible for the second act of John Travolta's career after Pulp Fiction (for better or for worse), and in The Hateful Eight he continues down that road by casting seventies star Bruce Dern €“ who is back on top after Alexander Payne's Nebraska €“ as Confederate General Sanford Smithers. Channing Tatum's also in the mix, although his role hasn't been announced yet, and at the centre of the entire plot? Jennifer Jason Leigh as Daisy Domergue, aka "The Prisoner", the fugitive that Kurt Russell's bounty hunter is delivering to Tim Roth's hangman in the wintry Wyoming town of Red Rock.
