Random Rumblings - The Transformers edition

transformers06_poster.jpgYes, the day has finally come when I can finally see what all the fuss is about over Transformers. I have no clue if I'm going to enjoy it or not. I like the idea of Transformers and some of the trailers have been kick ass, but then again some of them haven't and it's Michael Bay. He promises the world with his films... but delivers the same old shit time and time again. We'll have to wait and see I guess. Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks may be splitting with Paramount. All speculation and industry gossip at the moment but after Paramount fired Tom Cruise last year... this would hint that they are becoming a little difficult to work with. Jackie Chan's next film after his long awaited team-up with Jet Li in The Forbidden Kingdom will be a Japan-set immigrant drama titled The Shinjuku Incident which he is starring and producing for his own production company JCE Productions. Hong Kong director Derek Yee Tung-sing is helming with a likely start date before the end of the year. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has now reached $558 million worldwide and is now the 40th highest grossing film in the world ever. The final book in the series sold 8.3 million copies in it's first 24 hours of release which is a new record. I doubt your going to see J.K. Rowling begging for cash anytime soon. Poor Steve Guttenberg, has it really come to this.... Vivica A. Fox, Steve Guttenberg, Ryan Sypek and "Saturday Night Live" veteran Cheri Oteri have all joined the cast of the Jessica Simpson star vehicle Major Movie Star. I might start a campaign for a new Police Academy movie or a new Three Men and a Baby movie! Australian actor Vince Colosimo has joined the cast of the vampire movie Daybreakers. This is the one with Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe and Sam Neil. The strange career choice of Hilary Swank playing a lead horror character in The Reaping was one I avoided in the cinema this year but I might give it a spin on DVD, though I know it will be shit. The Region 1 release will be in October and DVD Times have the specs and artwork, which looks rather different to the image they were promoting in the English language posters. Worst Previews have some new images of 3:10 to Yuma online... seriously can't wait for this!
