Ranking 2015's Summer Blockbuster Films From Worst To Best

11. Minions

Who would ever have expected the little yellow Minions from the Despicable Me franchise to not only get their own spin-off movie, but for it to outgross both DM films and end up scoring over $1 billion at the box office (marking Universal's third billion dollar-grosser in 2015)? Today their popularity cannot be denied, but rather than just cynically pander to audiences with a lamely unimaginative animated adventure, Minions is actually hugely inspired fun, even if the plot basically makes no sense. It barely stops to catch its breath, the visual wit is magnificent, and the voice performances (especially from Sandra Bullock and Jon Hamm) are terrific. There's certainly an argument to be made that it could've been smarter and more coherent, but the off-the-charts insanity is entertaining whether you're a kid or an adult, and with its stratospheric success, a sequel is all-but-inevitable. It may be fashionable for certain crowds to hate on them, but with their own outrageous outing, the Minions proved they're very much here to stay.
