Ranking 9 Biggest Two-Part Movies From Worst To Best
2. Kill Bill
Tarantino himself has said for years that he views Kill Bill as a single four-hour film, just split down the middle to make it easier for audiences to consume. Which is interesting, seeing as just how different the two parts are.
Volume 1 is exactly what one would think a Tarantino samurai film would be. It's got classical cinema references out the wazoo, a thirty-minute long sword fight sequence, and so much blood. At its core, it's a straight-forward revenge story with a bit of samurai flavor.
But Volume 2 is where things get really weird. Tarantino slows things down and offers up a more nuanced take on the material. The film is noticeably lighter on action and when The Bride finally finds Bill, the film's climax isn't an over-the-top sword fight, it's a conversation.
It's the first time in his career that Tarantino opted for a more nuanced approach, and in juxtaposition with the first film, it is extremely powerful.
