Ranking 9 Biggest Two-Part Movies From Worst To Best
1. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows
Bringing closure to a film franchise that had been running for ten years was never going to be an easy task, but somehow the filmmakers behind the Harry Potter franchise figured it out.
The very first of the literary adaptions to split its final book into two films, this franchise made an inspired choice based on artistic reasons rather than commercial ones. The final Potter book was gargantuan, over twice the size of earlier novels, so it made perfect sense.
The result is a two-part finale that works wonders. Part I chronicles Harry, Ron, and Hermione on the run and attempting to find the Horcruxes that will allow them to defeat Voldemort, while also giving audiences some of the most in-depth character development of the entire series. It's a slower film than many of the others, but for good reason. It takes its time in building to the climax, which makes Part II all the more effective.
Part II is essentially all climax. It is a two-hour third act to the two-acts of the previous film and it is surprising how effective it is. Seeing all of the characters from across the series rally together at Hogwarts for one final battle against Voldemort manages to be both poignant and thrilling.
