Ranking Aaron Sorkin Films From Worst To Best
1. The Social Network
No one really thought a film about the founding of Facebook would change the game and do much for cinema. Even when Aaron Sorkin teamed with legendary director David Fincher to make the film, expectations were modest. Turns out, The Social Network is one of the greatest films of this century.
Jesse Eisenberg stars as the socially introverted and borderline sociopathic company founder who juggles various lawsuits as he rises to a life of wealth and infamy. The film is a complex character study of a man adverse to civility who has a drive to be successful in spite of the people who will help him achieve that success.
Sorkin's screenplay won him his first Oscar and rightfully so as he weaves a story of betrayal and ambition through a narrative that so easily could have become unengaging due to its subject matter. Sorkin and Fincher's partnership proved to be a match made in heaven as the directorial style meshes with the script seamlessly.
The Social Network is an enthralling and relentless drama that will not drop your interest at any point. Sorkin's masterpiece is an exercise in showing that subject matter doesn't have to be uninteresting as long as you have a compelling story to tell and the result is a phenomenal film with one of the most polished scripts in history.
