Ranking All 22 Major Summer 2016 Blockbusters From Worst To Best
11. Jason Bourne
Considering how poor The Bourne Legacy was (not just as a Bourne movie, but as a spy thriller generally), it was always a great tonic to see Matt Damon return to his most iconic character to return the franchise to its roots.
He's not the most loquacious of characters, but his sparse dialogue goes a long way to balance the heavy exposition of Legacy and rebuilds the mythology of the character.
Critics seemingly sought something else, imagining somehow that the success of the originals was about more than tightly directed action, tension and entertainment and turning an apathetic lip up at it. But it does exactly what it needed to, bringing back the excitement, restoring the magic of the character and cleverly avoiding too much weight after Legacy's poor story decisions.
