Ranking All 22 Major Summer 2016 Blockbusters From Worst To Best

10. The Conjuring 2

Summer 2016
Warner Bros.

Patrick Wilson does not get the credit he deserves; he's frequently excellent in interesting projects and yet he also attracts terrible projects that he should have moved on from years ago.

Luckily, The Conjuring 2 is more of the first column than the second: he follows up on the surprisingly excellent first movie to offer a genuinely scary horror that forms one of the high-points in a strong year for horror overall.

Even with an excellent British mini-series adaptation the same story still fresh in the memory, The Conjuring 2 is a more-than worthy sequel, hitting exactly the beats it needed to (particularly in atmosphere and scares) and the acting ability on show adds legitimacy to the entire genre. The future is looking bright for horror.
