Ranking All 22 Major Summer 2016 Blockbusters From Worst To Best

15. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows

Summer 2016
Paramount

The first Turtles movie from under Michael Bay's banner was almost perversely entertaining: it was riddled with plot-holes, had a jaw-droppingly stupid plot and script and it played (typically) like slow-motion action porn.

When the trailer for the second was released, there was some promise that Bay knew what he was doing: bringing in fan favourites Bebop, Rocksteady, Casey Jones and Krang were all inspired on paper, and it definitely seemed he was embracing what had accidentally made its predecessor entertaining.

Sadly, it still missed what made the original cartoons and comics so popular, which could have elevated it above your standard brainless popcorn fare. And while there are some great moments of silliness and some impressive looking action set-pieces, at the end of it all, you just end up wishing you'd got something more substantial and less numb-headed.
