Ranking All 7 Superhero Movies From 2016 In Order Of Anticipation

6. Doctor Strange

Playing the "who should be cast as Doctor Strange?" game was fun for quite a while, with Aidan Gillen of Game Of Thrones once considered a favourite, as well as Joaquin Phoenix. But it couldn't ever really be anyone but Benedict Cumberbatch. A great choice for the doctor, Cumberbatch can now add a fourth iconic character to his resume to go along with Sherlock Holmes, Smaug and Khan. Once he was named to the role all the rest of the pieces began falling into place. Rounding out this A-list cast is Rachel McAdams, Oscar winner Tilda Swinton and Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor. Mads Mikkelsen is also rumoured for the film. It's not yet known what roles McAdams and Mikkelsen will play, but Swinton is Strange's mentor The Ancient One and Ejiofor will portray nemesis Baron Mordo. Meanwhile, Scott Derrickson will direct the film that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has called a "mind-bending acid trip." It sounds like this addition to the MCU is going to be yet another departure from the norm similar to Ant-Man and Guardians Of The Galaxy, giving the fans something different we can sink our teeth into and break up the monotony that releasing so many of these films could easily cause.
