Ranking All 7 Superhero Movies From 2016 In Order Of Anticipation
4. X-Men: Apocalypse
The Age of Apocalypse is one of the quintessential X-Men arcs and he's their deadliest rival, so seeing how Oscar Isaac portrays him is reason enough to be excited for the next instalment in the X-franchise. For the predecessor, mixing together the casts from the original and current series was a stroke of genius and tied in perfectly with the theme of time travel, and that motif will be continued with the 1980s setting of Apocalypse. Bryan Singer is once again behind the camera as the team of uncanny mutants square off against their legendary adversary, while Michael Fassbender's Magneto, Archangel, Storm and the brilliantly cast Olivia Munn as Psylocke will play his Horsemen. An increased role for Evan Peters' Quicksilver is a big reason to get the hype train rolling. His brief performance in Days of Future Past was possibly the best scene in any superhero movie ever and having the character play a bigger part is a great movie. In addition to that, Kodi Smit-McPhee will be BAMFing onto our screens as Nightcrawler, and if this version has any action sequences comparable to the opening scene of X2, having he and Quicksilver in the same movie might blow minds. The track record of these films suggests no reason to doubt that we're in for another great one, and the fan-favorite Apocalypse storyline should make for quite the spectacle.
