Ranking All The Major SDCC 2016 Movie Trailers From Worst To Best
8. Justice League
"We can be funny, honest." - DC, July 2016
Although I despised Batman V Superman, I'd be lying if I wasn't a little excited for Justice League. The word from the recent set visit suggested a refined production approach and the visual style of the still of the team together felt much more fitting of the source than everything else evidenced in the DCEU so far. The accompanying trailer, however, didn't quite sell it as much.
It's of course limited to the footage shot so far, so won't have the same flair of Wonder Woman or Doctor Strange, but the overall approach reeks of pleading; the pervasive sense of atonement for Batman V Superman is welcome to a degree, but when coupled with the desperation to make Fish-Man cool gets a bit irritating.
The trailer comes with a disclaimer citing its original purpose as being for those in Hall H, which tells you a lot about the angling; it's made for superfans who want to see just a slither of what's the come. Expect a proper trailer at the tail-end of 2016/the start of 2017 (remember, this isn't out until November next year) to better sell what the movie really is.
