Ranking All The Major SDCC 2016 Movie Trailers From Worst To Best

3. Wonder Woman

Comic Con Trailers
Warner Bros. Pictures

The way people were talking about it, you'd think Wonder Woman's trailer was two minutes of industry-redefining footage that stopped just shy of bringing about world piece. In truth, it's just a trailer for a swords-n-sandals/fantasy war movie that looks pretty cool, although the fact people from all sides of the Batman V Superman debate are jumping on board does at least bring calm to the long-standing Marvel/DC divide.

That's because there's a lot to like, from the heavy action that actually warrants its slo-mo to the refreshing gender balance here, with Gal Gadot's hero imposing and Chris Pine's love interest not reduced to doting worrier, and to call it unique is an understatement (vague period details aside, this isn't all that The First Avenger). The only reason it's been slightly overhyped is because it's nothing short of a miracle making a movie in a franchise that's two for two on duds seem exciting.

And that's the tease's biggest strength; unlike Justice League, Wonder Woman can act almost independently of Batman V Superman, and the trailer feels a lot less encumbered because of it, although it's not without some hampering - while I like it as a piece, the electronic Wonder Woman theme from Dawn Of Justice feels incredibly out of place at the end.
