Ranking April 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best
10. A Hologram For The King
RottenTomatoes Score: 65% (6.3/10)
Box Office: Made for approximately $30 million, this Tom Hanks-starring adaptation of the Dave Eggers novel has failed to pull in even 10% of its price tag so far. Unsurprisingly, it's a bomb.
Verdict: If there was any movie this month saved from potential failure by a solid lead performance, this was surely it.
Though the premise itself isn't particularly interesting and director Tom Tykwer unfurls it in a fairly pat fashion, Hanks sells it like his life depends on it.
Not quite the frothy fish-outta-water comedy the trailers sold it as, there are some more serious, dramatic elements to the tale that pay off better than expected, and though nobody will be talking about it a few months from now, it's nice to see Hanks doing something so different.
