Ranking April 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best
14. The Boss
RottenTomatoes Score: 20% (4.4/10)
Box Office: The $29 million Melissa McCarthy vehicle has easily doubled its budget to date, and while it won't end up as one of the actress' bigger successes, it still proves her staying power with audiences.
Verdict: Possibly McCarthy's worst starring role yet, this "comedy" revels in inane slapstick and mean-spiritedness, and as such it's hard to buy into the movie's later attempts to make her horrible character likeable.
Peter Dinklage gives a rare terrible performance as the movie's antagonist, though thankfully for him, he disappears for lengthy periods of screen time. Less lucky is Kristen Bell, who is saddled with McCarthy's shtick for the entire movie and probably wishes she was anywhere else the entire time.
It's not quite Adam Sandler-tier comedy, but it's sadly not far off either.
